2013 William Inge Theatre Festival Honors Its Namesake, Now thru May 4
(5/1/2013) - The William Inge Theatre Festival has a long rich history of honoring great living playwrights, acknowledging these too-often underappreciated creative heroes of the stage. But the 32nd annual Inge Festival in 2013 changes pace: honoring its namesake American icon William Inge, to celebrate the centennial of his birth. The William Inge Theatre Festival at Independence Community College takes place today, May 1-4 of 2013, in Inge's rural hometown of Independence, Kansas, where, annually, Broadway and Hollywood artists meet on the prairie to mingle with visitors from more than 24 states.
Wakarusa Releases Daily Schedule for the 2013 Festival
(4/26/2013) - Wakarusa just released their daily music schedule featuring a knock-out double-bill headliner performing each night of the 4-day festival including The Black Crowes and STS9 on Thursday,Umphrey's McGee and Dispatch on Friday, Gogol Bordello and Widespread Panic on Saturday night and closing out the festival Sunday night, Amon Tobin & Snoop Lion. A lineup befitting a 10 year anniversary, Wakarusa is set to open their doors to over 30,000 music fans from May 30th - June 2nd in Ozark, Arkansas.

(12/14/2012) - Scott Johnson, a New York City comedian and University of Kansas alumnus, returns to his hometown Lawrence, Kansas, for a special one night only performance at the historic Liberty Hall. Liberty Hall has hosted many legends over the years such as Iggy Pop and Morrissey and Johnson will soon join those ranks. Johnson headlines his own hilarious comedy special, appropriately entitled, The Prodigal Son Returns. The show is comprised of stand-up, sketch, and improvisation. Johnson will be joined onstage by fellow New York City comedian and friend, Mark Stetson.

Disney's THE LION KING is Highest-Grossing Theatrical Production in Wichita History
(10/1/2012) - Disney's THE LION KING continues to reign across North America with a sold-out, record-breaking engagement in Wichita, which concluded on Sunday, September 30 at the Century II Concert Hall. The premiere four-week engagement grossed over $4.3 million at the box office and entertained more than 60,000 patrons, making it the highest-grossing theatrical production in Wichita history.
THE LION KING Opens Tonight in Wichita
(9/7/2012) - The Wichita premiere of Disney's THE LION KING opens tonight, Friday, September 7, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. at Century II Concert Hall for a limited engagement of four weeks through Sunday, September 30, 2012. In Wichita, THE LION KING plays Tuesday through Thursday evenings at 7:30 p.m., Friday nights at 8:00 p.m., Saturdays at 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at 1:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., with a special matinee performance on Thursday, September 27 at 1:00 p.m. There will not be an evening performance on Sunday, September 30. "Thus far sales have exceeded our expectations, but there are still great seats available! Thanks to this amazing Broadway touring company and the City of Wichita, which has done such a beautiful job getting Century II ready for THE LION KING," said Mark Edleman, President of Theater League.
